About

I’m an amateur surfer, skier, photographer, and videographer based in Southern California.

I’ve spent most of my life enjoying this amazing place.

As a teenager I fell in love with surfing and the ocean; shaping and glassing my own boards, diving and spearfishing the local reefs, and working as an Ocean Lifeguard for the city of Newport Beach.

I grew up camping and backpacking all over Southern California but as I approached adulthood I set my sights on the higher more remote Sierra Nevada mountain range and started scrambling the easier routes to the top of the higher peaks and that eventually led to more technical climbs up the more challenging routes.

Pretty soon after starting to explore and the Sierra high country during the nicer summer and fall months I started to extend my explorations into the colder winter months– at first adventuring on snowshoes and crampons but quickly moving to a splitboard and eventually to skis.

Soon enough I was exploring the local mountains and the High Sierra all year long on rock and snow living a semi-dirtbag life working at the beach during the summer and getting by doing odd jobs in the winter sleeping in cars at trailheads and in ski resort parking lots.

Nowadays I’m more risk averse and have much less time; I grew up, got a full time salaried job with benefits, and have a wonderful young family. I still surf 3 to 4 times per week on average and get to ski at the resort and int he backcountry on occasion but I no longer rock climb.

More and more I’ve transitioned to documenting these activities and sharing my thoughts and accompanying visuals with you here.
